Setting Up Mac OS X Mail Using IMAP
  1. Open Apple Mail (Mail in your Applications).
  2. From the Mail menu, click on Add Account...
  3. Select Add Other Mail Account…. Click Continue.
  4. Fill in the requested information. Cilck Create.
    You will see a message "Account must be manually configured". Click Next.
  5. Now, fill in your incoming mail settings.
  6. Incoming Mail Server Info
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Mail Server: mail.EXAMPLE.COM (replace EXAMPLE.COM with your domain)
    • User Name: username@example.com (your full email address)
    • Password: The password you created for this email address.
  7. Click Next.
  8. It's possible that you will see an error at this step: The identity of “mail.example.com” cannot be verified. That's fine. Click Connect and Next.
  9. Enter 143 for the Port and leave the other settings as default and click Next.
  10. Next fill in your outgoing mail settings.
  11. Outgoing Mail Server Info
    • SMTP Server: mail.EXAMPLE.COM (replace EXAMPLE.COM with your domain).
    • User Name: username@example.com (your full email address)
    • Password: The password you created for this email address.
  12. Click Create.

How to Change Email SMTP Port from 25 to 587

  1. Launch Apple Mail
  2. Drop down the mail menu, and choose preferences
  3. Select the email account to modify under accounts
  4. Beneath Outgoing server (SMTP) click on the drop down bar and select "Edit SMTP server list...".
  5. Click on your desired Outgoing server and then click advanced.
  6. Select option for custom port and type in 587.
  7. Click OK
  8. Restart Apple Mail

Congratulations! You've just created your email account. Try sending yourself a test message to make sure it's working.
