How to change the server timeouts in Microsoft Outlook 2003

If you're having problems downloading your email from our server or finding it is timing out, try increasing the server timeout setting in Account Settings. This will give your mail more time to download and may prevent it timing out.

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click Tools and select E-mail Accounts
  3. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts and click Next
  4. Highlight your email account and click Change
  5. Click More Settings
  6. Select the Advanced tab
  7. Slide the bar to 5 minutes under Server Timeouts
  8. Click OK, Next and Finish
