Please be advised that Microsoft has officially announced the end-of-sale and retirement of OneDrive for Business Standalone Plans (Plan 1 & Plan 2). Moving forward, Microsoft is consolidating these capabilities into the Microsoft 365 / Office 365 Suites.

Existing data and files stored in OneDrive remain completely safe and accessible. However, a plan migration will be required prior to the current subscription renewal date to ensure uninterrupted service.

Key Timeline:-

Date / Timeline Details & Impact
May 31, 2026 (End of Sale) New purchases and adding new user licenses under Standalone plans are no longer available.
January 2027 (End of Renewals) Renewals for existing Standalone licenses will no longer be supported. Current subscriptions will remain active only until their existing term expires.
December 2029 (Full Retirement) Complete retirement of Standalone plans. All accounts must be fully transitioned to a Microsoft 365 suite.

Recommended Replacement Plans:-

To ensure seamless business continuity and continued access to OneDrive storage, we recommend transitioning to one of the following alternatives based on your team's needs:

  • Microsoft 365 Business Basic
Suitable for organisations looking for OneDrive storage together with other productivity and collaboration services.
  • Microsoft 365 or Office 365 Enterprise plans (E3/E5)
Suitable for organisations requiring enterprise-level features, subject to the specific plan's storage and licensing entitlements.

Recommended Actions:-

We recommend reviewing your current subscription and planning the transition before your existing subscription expires or becomes ineligible for renewal. The most suitable replacement will depend on your current storage usage, required features and budget.
